In 2017, Rwanda became the second country in Africa to host an Impact Week, following in the footsteps of Kenya.
For two years, in 2017 and 2018, the local partner SOS Children's Villages Technical High School in Kigali was hosting the program. The partnership and collaboration developed a genuine drive for the program over this period.
A dedicated core team of volunteers, experts in the field of innovation and primarily connected through various Design at Business events, executed this innovation academy program in Kigali. Building on the experience of previous years, the initiative was scaled up in 2018 and the organizing team around Christine Wenzel, Joern Bruecker, Kiba Muvunyi and Willy Manirakiza, witnessed increased participation and support from companies, organizations, and individuals who shared their vision.
